Christos showing in the open class as a puppy. Christos finished very quick with limited showing. He obtained a five point major/Best Opposite his first time in the ring. Christos was owner/handled. Many thanks to all of the judges who appreciated his unblemished soundness in movement, his structure, quality of coat and pigment, and the fabulous temperament that this boy has. Please take a look at his pedigree and you will find that he has many wonderful champions behind him, beginning with his mom. Be sure to research his grand-sire too..."King" is well known across the world. "Stos" never meets a stranger and is always ready to play (even in the ring!).
Stos gets a hug from his owner/handler, Shane, after coming out of the ring. Show preparation takes much patience and hard work for both the dog and the handler. A good relationship between the two makes for great team work in the ring.
Christos being awarded his new champion status and Best Opposite by judge Nancy Hafner. Thank you to all the judges who appreciated the type and style that Christos possesses. He is such an effortless mover and is very showy. He too loves showing, and seemed to be such a natural;
Leevia finished at 13 months, obtaining 14 points (including both majors) as a puppy. Leevia’s soundness and beautiful carriage complements her showy attitude and loving temperament. She has loved the ring since day one walking into the ring like she owned it. She would gain a new attitude of confidence when in the ring. She loves showing. Leevia has a high drive for retrieving, mainly for a squeeky tennis ball. She is very loving, loyal and smart. Since retiring from conformation showing, Leevia on many occasions is a grooming competition dog for Slocum Ridge Pet Camp in Glencoe, Alabama. Leevia loves being groomed and traveling, so grooming competitions are fun for her. Feel free to pay Slocum Ridge Pet Camp Boarding and Grooming a visit: http://www.slocumridge.com/
Shane and Leevia just after leaving the ring as Leevia finished her championship...also winning Best of Variety on this day and showing in the Non-Sporting Group. Again, always good hugs and kisses for a job well done in the ring...owner-dog relationships are very important to us.
Landon showed his girl “Jillian” for the majority of her championship points including her first major. His time in the ring with Jillian is surrounded with many fond memories which include the thrill of winning Best In Sweepstakes Specialty in Atlanta.Jillian completed her championship under judge Molly Rue Steele winning Winners Bitch & Best Opposite at the 2008 AWC Southern Specialty in Atlanta. Thank you to all the judges who recognized Jillian’s outstanding representation of the breed standard, unblemished movement, and elegance that she portrays for the breed. Landon enjoyed showing Jillian at the Whippet National 2009 in Atlanta in junior showmanship, Parade of Honors, and in Best of Breed. Jillian showed well and made it down to the final cut of 16 whippets in the Best of Breed competition at the whippet national. Our gratitude, to Debbie Butt, for placing such an AWESOME girl in the hands of our son, Landon, to love and to show.
From Our April Litter: Leevia X Christos...We present: TIAGO!...winning his first points as a 6 -7 month old puppy. For now we are taking a break...and hopefully will find time in our busy life to continue showing him as a puppy in 2010~
Sportingfields Classic Design "Otis".... Otie Toadie O is now retired and is an official Couch Potato. Otis provided a great start in whippets for Landon and really for us all. If it was his day to show, and Otis decided he wanted to show, he was a show machine. That always made handling much more fun! You just had to watch your fingers while baiting...he would take one with his bait snack!
All of our dogs are owner/handleddd. However, we owe much gratitude and thanks to Rachel Corbin and Chris Manelopoulos for teaching, guiding and helping us along the way. They are the best mentors in the business and we have been so fortunate to be mentored by them. (The photo is of Chris and Remy and one of there prestigous wins at Westminster. Rachel, although not IN the ring, is ever so present in conditioning this girl, grooming her, and doing her awesome job preparing that coat for ringtime...none other compares to the finished job of a show dog when Rachel and Chris have presented it...) We owe many thanks to all who have helped us in the dog show world with both poodles and whippets.
